PRODUCT STORY
The details in the design of this lever handle have been inspired by classical columns from the Corinthian and Ionic order. Columns feature heavily in ancient Greek architecture and whilst they certainly had a structural use, they also had significant decorative importance and cultural meaning.
The flutes and details at either end of the handle are not dissimilar to those that can be seen on the columns flanking the doorcases in the Great Room in Spencer House, St. James’s Place. For more interest, the delightful partially filled fluted decoration was introduced. A slightly rarer detail, one example that can be found in London is on the Ionic columns that front St Paul's Cathedral.
